My fine haired cat grows masses of hair that stick together and form pads of hair.?

I have a cat that has very fine hair. It grows patches that form solid masses on its back. I have to take a shears and clip the solid masses off. The matted hair is almost like a sponge made of hair wheh clipped off. They are about 2 inches in lengthe and 1 1/2 inches in diameter. How can I prevent this from happening?

Your cat needs to be groomed. Just like you, it needs to have it’s hair (fur) combed or brushed to keep the hair (fur) from matting. Fine haired cats mat very easily. I suggest combing or brushing it’s fur every day if possible, if not, than once or twice a week will keep the hair from matting. Go to the pet store and get a rubber brush and a metal comb for cats , ask the sales clerk which is best for cat grooming. I hope this helps with your problem. I’m telling you from experience…keep the cat groomed and the mats will go away.
